Joanne Petuchovas studied Fine Arts Education, but began her career in commercial art when everything was still done by hand (pre-computers). She eventually switched careers to Special Education. In all aspects of her personal and working life, she utilized her creativity and artistic skills to enhance her lessons and student experiences. Now retired, she has been able to concentrate on her love for photography and creating with paper. Iris paper folding, tea bag folding, and collage are some of the techniques used on her unique note cards. Please join us for a group tour of the “Matisse and American Art” exhibit at the Montclair Art Museum on the afternoon of Friday, March 31. The docent-led tour will be from 2 to 3 p.m. You may view other exhibits at the museum before or after the tour. Participants pay for admission to the museum and the special exhibit: $18 for adults, and $16 for seniors. ALC will provide the tour fee.

Sally Abbott will show her works at the Lundt-Glover Gallery, 58 Meyersville Rd., Chatham Twp., NJ in her upcoming solo show “On the Road and Home Again” hosted by Art League of the Chathams. The show is on view March 10 – June 13, 2017. The opening reception on March 10, from  6:30 to 8:30 pm, will be accompanied by the live music of Joel Read and is open to public. The solo show and reception coincide with the opening reception of the ALC Spring Group Show at the same location and time. Please stop by and check out both these exciting events.

Anne began studying art with her aunt who was an art teacher when she was 7 or 8. Throughout junior high and high school, she studied at the local art center and in high school was selected to help the art teacher in one of his classes. After taking art classes at university, she studied at a government sponsored atelier in Paris and much later at the Visual Art Center of New Jersey in Summit. ALC organized docent lead group tour of Montclair Museum’s Matisse and the American Art exhibit.   “Thanks for organizing this field trip. The docent was really excellent. I learned so much and enjoyed the good company of everyone visiting.” LK
