    Ed’s interest in art began with a career as a building contractor which presented the opportunity to draw floor plans, construction views, and architectural details.   • The Art League of the Chathams Fall Show continues from September 8 – December 3, 2024

    The ALC Fall Show Opening was held Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Chatham Township Municipal Building at 58 Meyersville Road and may be viewed, Monday to Friday, until December 3, 2024. This show features a solo presentation of Jack Masterson’s work in the Lundt-Glover Gallery where the artist will donate one-hundred percent of all sales to the Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown. The league’s general membership artwork is displayed in the strolling gallery. The exhibits are free to the public and handicapped accessible.

    The Opening Reception of the ALC Spring Show was held Sunday, March 10, 2024 in the Chatham Township Municipal Building at 58 Meyersville Road. This show featured “Sally Abbott: Favorite Paintings” a solo show of Sally Abbott’s best work, in the Lundt-Glover Gallery. Live music was provided by popular tenor Matt Zabiegala. The exhibit by the league’s general membership was displayed in the strolling gallery. The exhibits are always free to the public and handicapped accessible.

    2023 Winter Show

    The last Winter Friends & Family Show was held in December 2023, in the Chatham Township Municipal Building at 58 Meyersville Road. The reception included a holiday boutique, music by the Kings Road Band, a solo show featuring the digital artwork of Yolanda Fundora, and an exhibit by the league’s general membership and their invited guests. The solo show, “Station Stops on the Time Machine,” was in the Lundt-Glover Gallery and the general membership show was in the strolling gallery.

    2023 Fall Show

      The ALC Fall Show was held in September 2023 in the Chatham Township Municipal Building at 58 Meyersville Road. This show featured “Plein Air Perspectives,” a small group exhibit in the Lundt-Glover Gallery with works by six ALC artists who paint together outdoors (plein air means “outdoors” in French) : P.J.     P.J. Aduskevicz is a landscape painter. What excites her most about landscapes is the versatility of the subject matter, which allows her to paint a range of images, from realistic to abstract. “I am intrigued by taking a landscape scene and simplifying it to the point that it is abstract but, at the same time, still reads as realism because of its basic shapes,” she said. Playing with color is her favorite part of the painting process. She experiments with hue, value, and saturation to make colors harmonize. The results can be colors that sing next to each other, support the tone, and even sparkle. P.J. also loves to create moods…

    The Art League of the Chathams Spring Show will open on Sunday, March 12, with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Chatham Township Municipal Building, 58 Meyersville Road. The show runs until September 6. The exhibit by the League’s general membership will be held in the strolling gallery. In addition, an exhibit titled “Snap, Draw, Paint—Two Friends Together” will feature works by painter Kathy Havens and photographer Larry Kerner. Their show can be viewed in the Lundt-Glover Gallery.   • Remembering Rosemary Howlett

    Rosemary Howlett, past President and longtime Exhibits Cochair of the Art League of the Chathams, died on Dec. 9, 2022. For her family and friends and for the Art League of the Chathams, this a great loss and one that has occurred too soon. Rosemary loved the Art League and devoted her time and energy to its membership and its activities. She served more than six years (2007-2009; 2013-2016) as its President and was very proud of the League’s accomplishments during that period. Of those accomplishments, Rosemary was especially proud that the League instituted the Arts Scholarship, an annual award given to a Chatham High School senior who is continuing…
