Maia Kumari Bree Chowdhury
I am an architect who loves to paint and to write. I work with acrylic and mixed media, on canvas, paper and wood. I spent many years sketching realistic spaces, in pen and ink, and now find freedom in the forms of abstract painting. At times I listen to music while I paint, and the resulting image is an expression of my listening. Geometry forms the basis of much of the work although it is hidden in many layers of paint. Marie Burns
I have displayed my work through New Jersey at juried shows and local art fairs. I have gone to Laguna Beach, CA every summer since 1993 to work at the “Art-A-Fair” festival, first as an artist making 1/2 scale carousel horses. Realizing it costs a fortune to ship my work cross country, I now work on staff selling artwork of other artists. I take the opportunity to go on photo safaris throughout the southwest. I also visit the Rockies in Colorado a couple times a year and do more photography there. As a member of the Center for Visual Arts of New Jersey, I display at their Annual Members’ Shows.…
