The Art League of the Chathams warmly invites the community to the Opening Reception of its 2026 Spring Art Show on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Lundt-Glover Gallery in the Chatham Township Municipal Building. Admission is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
This year’s Spring exhibition explores themes of nature, imagination, and emerging technology, highlighting artwork that blends traditional painting techniques with contemporary creative tools. The show places special emphasis on outsider-inspired art, celebrating intuitive, expressive work created outside traditional academic conventions.
The exhibition features new artwork by Lidia Bendelic of Chester and Ed Hauschild of Morris Plains, alongside works by Khaya Peluso, M.B.A., President of the Art League of the Chathams.
Bendelic, originally from Moldova in Eastern Europe, is an avid photographer who captures moments of beauty often overlooked in everyday life. Her work reflects a belief that the world is filled with moving, living moments waiting to be noticed.
Hauschild discovered his passion for painting later in life after attending a casual “sip and paint” event following his retirement from a forty-year career as a contractor. Inspired to explore painting further, he developed his technique through independent study and experimentation with acrylics.
Peluso’s work explores the intersection of traditional painting methods and emerging AI-assisted art creation, juxtaposing organic imagery from nature with evolving technological processes. Her work reflects a dialogue between hand-crafted artistic expression and new digital tools, while maintaining the spirit of outsider-art inspired creativity.
In support of the Art League’s nonprofit mission, 80% of the proceeds from any artwork sold by Khaya Peluso during the exhibition will be donated back to the Art League of the Chathams to help support exhibitions, educational programming, and community arts initiatives.
The Art League is currently issuing a Call for Artists and welcomes new members, patrons, and supporters of the arts. The organization is also launching a Youth League through its Family Membership program, encouraging young artists and families to participate in exhibitions and creative activities.
As part of its continued commitment to emerging artists, the Art League proudly offers the $1,000 Rosemary Howlett Scholarship, awarded annually to a Chatham High School senior pursuing a career in the arts.
Community members interested in joining the Art League, exhibiting artwork, supporting the Youth League, or contributing to the nonprofit are encouraged to connect with the organization.
