ALC Winter Show Opening Reception: Sunday, December 8, 2024

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the Art League of the Chathams invites you to its Winter Art Show and Holiday Boutique, a festive celebration of art and community. The event will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Chatham Township Municipal Building, located at 58 Meyersville Road. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided. This event marks the continuation of a vibrant season of art, celebrating the creativity of local artists with an art exhibit by the league’s general membership and their invited guests.

This year’s highlight is a special collaboration between two talented artists: Lidia Flora Bendelic and Ed Hauschild. Their combined exhibition in the Lundt-Glover Gallery offers a unique fusion of painting and photography, capturing the beauty of the natural world through their distinctive perspectives.

Lidia Flora Bendelic (Chester, NJ): A photographer who describes her art as “the only language everyone can understand,” Lidia uses her camera to capture the poetry in every flower and the music in every color. Her work reflects her deep connection to nature and her passion for sharing its beauty. “The perfect image aligns light, moment, and composition,” Lidia says, “and when it does, it’s absolutely marvelous.”

Ed Hauschild (Morris Plains, NJ): A self-taught painter, Ed’s artistic journey began during his career as a building contractor, where he developed a talent for sketching architectural details. Today, he channels his passion into painting stunning nature scenes, striving to recreate the beauty of the world on every canvas. “I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy creating them,” Ed shares.

The event will also feature live music by the Kings Road Band and a holiday boutique offering unique gifts and crafts, making it an ideal occasion to celebrate the holiday season with art and community spirit.

The Art League of the Chathams welcomes new members, both artists and supporters, and proudly offers the $1,000 Rosemary Howlett Scholarship to a Chatham High School senior pursuing art as a career.
