The Art League of the Chathams grew out of an idea by Alice Lundt,
then Chatham Township Clerk, who wanted to see the works of Township artists displayed on the walls of the newly renovated
Municipal Building for its opening dedication-celebration in 1988. Chatham Township Art League was formed
later that year.
Our Purpose:
To nurture the artistic development of Chatham Township and Chatham Borough visual artists and to foster an appreciation
of visual arts in the Township and Borough.
Membership: Any interested resident of
Chatham Township or Chatham Borough is welcome to join. The present membership of approximately 45 includes
amateur and professional artists and individuals interested in art and local artists. Annual dues are $20.00 per person or
$30.00 per couple or family. CTAL is governed by an elected board of 3 Officers and several Chairpersons.
Programs: Each year the League sponsors:
general-interest programs, i.e., art videos, talks; and artist-specific programs, i.e., demonstrations, share-sessions.
Social get-togethers include a Holiday Party and an End-of-the-Year Picnic and add-ins as needed to keep us close.
Exhibits: Four exhibits of the works of our
members are mounted each year. These exhibits are held at the Chatham Township Municipal Building, exclusively, to fulfill
our founding aim. Other exhibits include solo artist shows at the Lundt Glover Gallery located in the
front of the the Chatham Township Municipal building, Chatham Boro Municipal Building and the Chatham Library.
